Online services to convert DOC to PDF
Would you like to convert your DOC documents into PDF format but you don't want or can't download special programs on your computer? No problem, it is possible to do everything using the appropriate ones online services, as I mentioned at the beginning. To find out which ones, go ahead and read. You will find listed below those that, in my opinion, represent the best in the category.
Online2PDF
An excellent Web service that you can call on to perform the operation that is the subject of this tutorial is Online2PDF. It is free, requires no registration to use and allows you to process as many as 20 files at a time. The maximum size allowed for each document is 100MB, while all files together cannot exceed 150MB. This service also protects the privacy of users by automatically deleting the files that are uploaded to its servers.
You ask me how to make use of it? I'll tell you right away. First of all, connected to the home page of the service and drag the DOC files to be transformed into PDF in the box with written on it (or just drag your files here) which is located at the bottom. Alternatively, click the button Select files and choose "manually" the files on your computer that you want to convert.
If you have uploaded more than one file, select your preferred conversion mode from the drop-down menu modality (located below) choosing between: Convert files separately or Merge files. Then check that, in correspondence with the drop-down menu convert to located further down, the option is selected PDF file (* pdf) and click on the button Converted to start uploading and then converting documents. At the end of the procedure, the download of the Word documents transformed into PDF will start automatically.
I would also like to point out that, if you wish, before proceeding with the conversion you can possibly modify the settings relating to the layout of the file, header and footer, etc. using the voices and tools you find at the bottom of the page. By clicking, instead, on the button with the scissors next to each document you can indicate which specific pages of the same to convert.
Programs to convert DOC to PDF
Now let's move on to programs “Real” used for the conversion (and not only) of documents from DOC to PDF format. There are both for Windows and for macOS, both free and paid (but possibly usable in a free trial version). To find out more, continue reading, you will find everything explained in detail below.
Microsoft Word (Windows / macOS)
If you have installed the package on your computer Microsoft Office (if not, you can fix it immediately by reading my tutorial on how to download Microsoft Office), know that you do not need any other additional tools to be able to transform your DOC files into PDF: just use Word. The famous word processing software of the Redmond company, in fact, integrates a function specifically used for this purpose.
So, all you have to do to succeed is nothing more than open the DOC document of your interest with Word, click on the button Fillet located at the top left and select the item Save with name from the menu that opens. In the window that appears, click on the button Shop by Department e seleziona l'opzione PDF from the menu Save eat. Finally, indicate the location on your computer where you want to save the converted file and click the button Save.
If you want, before proceeding with saving the file, you can reduce the size of the PDF (but also reducing the quality of any graphic contents): to do this, before clicking on the button to proceed with saving, select the option Minimum size at the item Optimize for.
LibreOffice (Windows / macOS)
Another tool that you can use to carry out the operation in question is LibreOffice. This is a totally free, open source productivity suite that works on both Windows and macOS (as well as Linux). It offers more or less the same functions as Microsoft Office and is one of the best "free" alternatives to the latter.
You ask me how you can use it for your purpose? I'll explain it to you right away. First, connected to the download page of the program and presses the button Scaricate la versione xxx.
Once the download is complete, if you are using Windows, april il .msi files obtained and click the button Run in the window that appears. Then press on the button NEXT, select the option Typical, click on the button again NEXT and, subsequently, su Install. Finish by clicking on the buttons Yes e end.

At this point, visit the application website again and click the button Translated user interface, in order to download the cittàn translation of LibreOffice. Once the download is complete, close LibreOffice, open the package LibreOffice_xx_MacOS_x86-64_langpack_it.dmg just downloaded, right click on the executable LibreOffice Language Pack, select the voice apri from the menu that appears, press the buttons apri e Install, select the voice /Applications/LibreOffice.app from the window that opens and click on the button Install. If you are shown a permission notice, click on Yes, identify me, enter the password of your user account on macOS and click on OK twice.
Now that you see the main LibreOffice window, click on the entry Open file located in the left sidebar and open the DOC file you want to transform into PDF. Pigia then on the menu Fillet in alto a sinistra, selects the dicitura Export as is that Export to PDF format.
Finally, adjust (if you want) the settings related to resolution, compression etc. using the options attached to the further window displayed, click on the button Export, indicate the location on your computer in which to save the final file and press the button Save.
PDF Editor / PDF Creator (Windows / macOS)
If you are looking for an alternative to the resources already mentioned, you can rely on the programs PDF Editor e PDF Creator, both of the SkySoft software house. The first is for Windows and, in addition to fulfilling the purpose of this tutorial, it also integrates many tools to edit PDFs in a complete way.
The second, on the other hand, is for macOS and allows you to perform the conversion only. In both cases, these are paid solutions (the software for Windows costs $ 99,95, the one for macOS $ 39,95), but before proceeding with the purchase you can download the trial version that allows you to process a file at a time and adds a watermark.
To download PDF Editor on your PC Windows, connected to the program's website and presses the button Free Trial. Once the download is complete, start the .exe file ottenuto and click on your button Si in the window that opens, then on the button install and on that Start Now. Once the PDF Creator window is displayed, click on the button Open File on the left, select the DOC file you want to transform into PDF, press the menu Fillet located on the toolbar, select the option Save As from the menu that opens and indicates the location on your computer to save the file. Next, type the name you want to assign to the output PDF and press the button Save.

Then click on the button to proceed with the use of the free trial and, now that the software window is displayed on the screen, drag and drop the Word files you want to transform into PDF into it. Then wait a few moments for the documents to be processed, click on the button Crea and indicate the location on your computer to save the output file.
Pages (macOS)
Stai using a Mac? Then know that you can convert your DOC files to PDF using Pages, the word processing program made available directly by Apple for its users, it's basically a kind of macOS-specific Word. It is pre-installed on most of the latest generation Macs but, if not, it can be downloaded for free from Mac App Store.
To use it for your purpose, open the DOC file in relation to which you are interested in working with Pages, select the item Fillet located in the upper left part of the menu bar and click on the items Export as> PDF.
In the window that opens, adjust (if you want) the image quality using the appropriate drop-down menu, click on the button NEXT, choose the location to save the file and, finally, press the button Export. It was easy, wasn't it?
App to convert DOC to PDF
As I told you at the beginning of the article, it is possible to convert DOC files to PDF even from smartphones and tablets, just use one of the many uses specially designed for the purpose in question. - Word Mobile (Android / iOS / Windows 10 Mobile) - as you can guess from the name itself, this is the mobile variant of Word. It can be used for free on devices with dimensions equal to or smaller than 10.1 ″ (otherwise it requires the subscription of the Office 365 service, starting from 7 euros / month) and allows you to perform many operations that can be carried out in the "classic" version of the program, including the possibility to transform DOC documents into PDF.
- PDF Conversion Suite (Android) - application available only for Android devices thanks to which it is possible to convert PDFs into different formats and export DOC documents and other types of files to PDF. It's free, but some extra features can only be unlocked through in-app purchases (starting at € 2,59).
- Document to PDF (iOS) - app for iOS devices only that does a single operation: transform Office documents, therefore, even Word documents, into PDF files. It is free, very easy to use and its user interface is very intuitive.
