The first program that I would recommend to convert MTS to AVI is Wondershare Video Conveter Free, one of the most complete video converters available on the market. It is free (but possibly available in a paid variant with extra functions), usable for both Windows and Mac, very easy to use and able to work on all major video and audio file formats. In addition, for more experienced users it allows you to fine-tune the output parameters and ensures excellent quality for the processed movies.
To download it to your computer, connected to the program's website, select the operating system logo in use and click the button free Download.
When the download is complete, if you are using Windows open the .exe file obtained and press on Si. Then press the button install and Start Now.
If instead what you are using is a Mac, open the .dmg package you just obtained and drag the program icon into the folder Applications of macOS. Then right click on it and choose apri twice in a row, in order to start the program, however, going to shake the limitations of Apple imposed on unauthorized developers.
Now that, regardless of the operating system used, you see the Wondershare Video Conveter Free window on the screen, click on the button + Add placed in the center and select the video file in MTS format you want to transform into AVI.
Now, select from the menu located in the right part of the window, under the heading Output format:, the board Size and click REVIEWS, which you find in the category Video. If you want to use the advanced conversion settings, click on the item as well Settings which you always find on the right and act on the various parameters attached to the new window that has opened.
Per concludere, premium pulsating Converted which is at the bottom right and wait for the transformation procedure to be started and completed. By default, the converted videos will be saved in the folder Documents computer (which you can open "on the fly" by pressing the button Open output down).
Apowersoft Converter (Windows / Mac)
Another great tool you can rely on to convert MTS files to AVI is without a doubt Apowersoft Converter. This is a free program that can be used without problems on both Windows and Mac, able to intervene on the videos quite quickly and without excessively compromising the original quality. It supports all popular video file formats, including those in question. The only flaw, if we want to call it that, is that it applies a watermark on the movies that can only be removed by switching to the paid version.
To immediately download Apowersoft Converter on your computer, connect to the program's website and click on the button Download Desktop Version.
When the download is complete, if what you are using is a Windows PC, open the .exe file you just obtained and press on Si. Then click on OK to confirm the use of the cittàn language, click on NEXT three times, come on Install e porta a finish il setup by pigging your end.
If you are using a Mac, open the .pkg package you just got, press the button Continue in the window that appears on the desktop and follow the guided installation procedure that is proposed to you on the screen. Afterwards, start the program by clicking on its icon located in the Launchpad.
Now that you see the program window on the screen, drag over it the video in MTS format you want to convert, click on the drop-down menu next to the item Profile: below, select REVIEWS from the left side of the menu that opens and indicates the quality you want to assign to the final file.
If you wish to further customize the conversion parameters, click on the button Settings which is located in the lower right part of the window and act through the additional window you see appear.
Finally, indicate the location on your computer where you intend to save the MTS video when it will be converted to AVI by clicking on the folder that you find in correspondence of the field Result: placed at the bottom and presses the button Converted on the right. Done!
Video to Video Conveter (Windows)
If the above solutions have not fully convinced you, you can try Video to Video Converter. This is another free converter for Windows operating systems only that supports all major multimedia file formats, including those in question, and which can be used in portable mode, therefore without having to perform any installation procedure.
To download it to your computer (in its portable version), connect to the program's website and click on the item Click here to download ZIP archive. Once the download is complete, extract the ZIP archive you just obtained in any location and start the executable vv.exe which is in the path VTV.
In the window you see appear on the desktop at this point, select cittàn from the drop-down menu for language selection, click OK to confirm your choice and drag the MTS file into the program window that appears.
Once you have completed the above steps, a new window will open from which you can select the output format to be used for video conversion. Then click on REVIEWS, customize (if you want) the conversion parameters that you find on the right based on your needs and preferences and press the button OK to move forward.
To conclude, press the icon of gialla poster located at the bottom to choose the folder in which to save the final video and press the button Converted which is on the Video to Video Conveter toolbar to start the transformation procedure. Et voila!
Total Video Converter Lite (Mac)
If you are using a Mac, you can also contact Total Video Converter Lite, a very fast converter that allows you to convert MTS to AVI without any problems. It's free (but possibly available in a paid variant with additional features) and pretty easy to use. In short, try it now and you will see that you will not regret it.
To download it, connected to the dedicated section on the Mac App Store online, press the button See in the Mac App Store and once the Mac App Store real on the desk click the button Ottieni / Installa. If prompted, also enter your Apple account password.
After downloading, to convert a movie with Total Video Converter Lite, start the application by clicking on the relative icon that has been added to the Launchpad and drag the video into the program window.
In the menu that opens, choose the item Video File, select REVIEWS and then XVID AVI if you want to get a movie in standard resolution or the voice AVCHD & HD Video and then that XviD HD Video if you want to get a high definition AVI video.
Then choose the destination folder for the movie by pressing Choose and wait for the conversion process to come to an end.
Zamzar (online)
If you don't want to download new programs on your computer, you can convert MTS to AVI also by using an online converter, as I mentioned at the beginning of the article. Among the various online converters available on the square I recommend that you first use Zamzar. It is free (basic), rather reliable and allows you to act not only on the type of file in question but also on various other formats, from any browser and without having to make any registrations. Note that it is possible to upload files with a maximum weight of 200 MB.
You ask me how to make use of it? I'll point it out to you immediately. First, connect to the home page of the service, on the button Choose files ... and select the video file in MTS format on your computer that you intend to convert to AVI. Alternatively, drag the video directly into the browser window.
Then choose the option avi from the drop-down menu located under the item Step 2 and type your e-mail address in the field under the heading Step 3. To conclude, click on the button Convert.
The conversion procedure will then be started and once completed you will receive an e-mail containing the link to download your transformed file. Then click on the link in the e-mail message and then press the button Download now placed next to the name of the file to download on the web page that will open in the browser. If you have not changed the settings of the web browser you are using, the video will be saved in the folder Download from your computer.
Convertio (Online)
A good alternative to the above tool is Convertio. This is another online converter, also free (basic), working from any navigator and without registration, which is characterized by its simple but pleasant user interface and its flawless operation. You can upload files having a maximum weight of 100 MB.
To use it, connect to the service's website and click on the button From a computer to select the MTS video saved on your computer that you want to convert to AVI. If your file is online, select the icon instead dropbox, Google Drive, to upload the movie from one of the cloud storage services just mentioned, or or click on the chain, to upload the file from the Web by providing the relative link.
Now, select the item from the drop-down menu on the right first Video and then that REVIEWS dopodiché premium pulsating Converted at the bottom and wait for the video to be uploaded to Convertio servers and for the conversion process to start. When the process is complete, click Download to save the file on your computer, in the folder Download (if you have not made any changes to the default browser settings).
If instead of storing the converted video on your computer you prefer to save it to Dropbox or Google Drive, before starting the conversion, press the relevant buttons at the bottom of the page and specify the destination position.
