Before you go ahead and actually see how to download whatsapp profile photos, my golden seed fornirti alcune preliminary information that will be useful to you to complete the operation in question.
First of all, I must inform you that, at the time of writing, there is no function on WhatsApp that allows you to download other people's profile photos. However, it is possible to stem this problem by touching a user's profile photo (or by accessing the “Info” section of the profile of your interest) and then take a screenshot.
Before doing this, however, I recommend that you ask for permission to download the profile photo from the contact in question, in order to avoid any problems whatsoever (especially if they are personal photos, even if made public by the latter). All clear? Well then let's proceed!
How to download a friend's WhatsApp profile picture
Let's see immediately how to download friend's WhatsApp profile picture or, in any case, of one of the contacts you have in your address book: below you will find explained how to proceed on Android, iPhone and also from PC.
To proceed on Android, after starting WhatsApp and tapping on the profilo's photo of the contact you are interested in, you need to take a screenshot by simultaneously pressing the key combination provided for this purpose.
So start WhatsApp on your device, tap on the tab Chat at the top left, press the icon of speech bubble located at the bottom right and scroll through the list of contacts you see on the screen, going to locate the one whose profile photo you want to save.
Next, tap on the profile photo thumbnail of the person in question and tap on the photo, to open it in full screen. Alternatively, after going to the screen containing the contact list, tap on name of the person of which to save the profile photo, he still presses on his name (located at the top) and, on the screen Info that is shown to you, tap his profilo's photo, to view it in full screen.
Now, to save the image in question, all you have to do is take a screenshot: press i at the same time Power + Home keys or i Power + Volume Down keys: depends on the brand and model of device you have. In any case, the screenshot will be signaled by a sound similar to that of the camera and / or some sort of flash effect will be displayed on the screen. More info here.
After taking the screenshot, if allowed, crop the capture you made using the appropriate ones indicators visible on the screen, so as to save only the profile image (without other portions of the screen), in order to perform a "cleaner" job. Alternatively, use one of the photo cropping apps I told you about in my dedicated tutorial.
The screen capture you made will be saved in the folder Screenshots of your device: to see it, open the app Photo / Gallery. You may then have to press on the symbol (≡)at the top left, select the item Device folders from the bar that appears on the side and navigate to the folder Screenshots.
To proceed on iPhone, you have to follow more or less the same instructions I gave you in the chapter on Android: after starting WhatsApp and tapping on the profile photo of the person of your interest, you need to take a screenshot using the simple key combination for this purpose .
Start, therefore, WhatsApp on your "iPhone by", tap the button Chat located at the bottom, click on the icon of pencil located at the top right (or possibly on one of the chat already started) and then select the contact of your interest. In the screen that opens, then, tap on name of the person you want to download and, on the screen Contact info that opens, tap the profilo's photo User.
Now, to save the profile photo that has opened in full screen, you simply need to take a screenshot. To succeed, if you have iPhone X or a later model, press the keys simultaneously Volume up (located on the left edge) and the side button (located on the right edge).
If, on the other hand, you have an older iPhone model, press the simultaneously Home button (located on the front of the device, under the iPhone display) together with the Power button which is located on the top edge (on iPhone 5s and earlier) or on the right side edge (on iPhone 6/6 Plus and later, up to iPhone 8/8 Plus). More info here.
After taking the screenshot, tap on its thumbnail that appears in the lower left corner of the screen, crop the capture using the appropriate indicators visible on the screen, in such a way as to save only the profile image, without other parts of the screen and, when you have finished the cropping, presses on the item end (top left) to complete the procedure. In the menu that opens at the bottom, then, choose where to save the screenshot (app Gallery the app Fillet) And that's it.
If, on the other hand, you want to proceed from PC, you must access WhatsApp, through the WhatsApp Web service or through the official client of the messaging platform, open the chat with the person whose profile photo you want to save and download it.
First, therefore, access WhatsApp by starting the appropriate client for Windows or macOS or by accessing WhatsApp Web through the browser; then, if requested, connect with the smartphone app by framing the QR Code displayed on the screen: if you can't, try to investigate the matter by following the instructions contained in this other guide.
Next, click on the symbol of pencil or on that of the speech bubble (top left), click on the name of the contact whose profile photo you want to save and, in the screen that opens, click on his name (at the top of the window). In the box that appeared on the right, then, click on profilo's photo of the person of your interest, so as to view it in full screen.
Now, all you need to do is take a screenshot to save the profile photo of the person in question. Here's how to do it.

Next, click on the button New and hold down the left mouse button to select the portion of the screen to capture (then the WhatsApp profile photo of your interest) and release it to save the image.
