How to put a WhatsApp audio as a ringtone on Android

However, keep in mind that some indications relating to the items and options to be selected may differ from what you see on the screen, depending on the version of Android in use, the model and brand of the smartphone in your possession.
Save WhatsApp audios
put a WhatsApp audio as a ringtone on Android, the first thing you need to do is locate the file of your interest and copy it to the ringtones folder. Open therefore WhatsApp, select the scheda Chat, open the conversazione which contains the audio of your interest and press on name of the person or group, at the top of the screen.
In the new screen that appears, tap the word Media, link and documenti, select the scheda Media, fai tap sull 'preview of the audio file you want to use as a ringtone and wait for it to start playing.
If it's the correct file, tap the i button three dots vertically located at the top right, select the option Share from the menu that opens and choose to open the File Manager in use on your device, so as to copy the audio into the ringtones folder (usually the one named Ringtones).
If your smartphone does not already have a “standard” file manager, you can use the free app Google files, which is what I used to write this passage. You can download it from the relevant section of the Play Store or if you are using a device on which this is not present (e.g. a Huawei smartphone with AppGallery), you can rely on one alternative store, as I explained to you here.
If you want to use voice messages as a ringtone, you can succeed in your intent by acting outside the WhatsApp app, using the File Manager. So, open the latter and tap on the item Internal Memory che trovi in basso.
Afterward, open the folder WhatsAppwho quills Media and then go to the folder WhatsApp Voice Notes (or the folder WhatsApp Audio, if you want to select an audio file received as an attachment).
At this point, select the folder Private (which is the one that contains the received audio), locate the fillet of your interest, tap on freccetta verse il basso that you find in its correspondence and select, from the menu that appears, the item Copy to, to copy the file to the ringtone folder.
If before opening or copying the file you want to play it, in order to make sure who is the element that really interests you, tap on its icon. If you then deem it appropriate, you can also assign a new name to the file by pressing on freccetta verse il basso next to it and choosing the option Rhinomine give the menu to compare.
If by proceeding in this second way you cannot find the audio files you are interested in on the device memory, it is because you have not previously enabled automatic file download in the WhatsApp settings (in the section Settings> Data usage and storage> Automatic media download).
To fix this, locate the audio files of your interest in the WhatsApp conversation and tap on down arrow that you find next to us, in order to download it.
Use a WhatsApp audio as a ringtone
After finding the WhatsApp audio of your interest and copying it to the ringtones folder on your Android device, you can finally proceed by setting the file as a ring tone.
To do this, you need to go to the Android settings. So, select the icon of Settings (Quella a forma di ruota d'ingranaggio) from the Home screen or from the drawer, tap on the items Sounds and vibration> Ringtone and select, from the proposed list, the audio files of WhatsApp that you previously copied to the ringtones folder.
If the WhatsApp audio you want to use as a ringtone is not visible in the list, scroll down the screen with all ringing tones, tap the word Add from device memoryselect l 'Whatsapp with which you want to search and select the audio file and press on the name of the latter. Next, select the audio files of WhatsApp from there.
Note that in order to be used as a ringtone correctly, an audio file must have an overall length of 30-40 seconds. If necessary, you can edit the file of your interest using apps such as Ringtone maker, which is free and allows you to easily perform the aforementioned operation. To use it, download it from the Play Store or from alternative stores.
Next, launch Ringtone makerselect il audio files of WhatsApp from the device memory, tap the button (...) that you find next to the title of the same and choose the option Modification from the menu that appears. In the new screen that appears, move the two gray indicators that are on the graph, in order to define the starting point and the end point of the portion of the audio to be cut, and press the button with the floppy disk, to complete the procedure.
Finally, indicate that you intend to save the trimmed audio file as ringer, through the menu that appears, then type the name you want to assign it, tap the button Save and choose to set it as default ringtone. For more details, you can read my guide on how to change ringtone.

Save WhatsApp audios
put a WhatsApp audio as a ringtone on iPhone, the first thing you need to do is save the file of your interest on the device, so that you can then use it as a ring tone.
To do this, start WhatsApp, go to the section Chat, select the conversazione of your interest and press on name of the person or group of your interest, at the top of the screen.
Now, select the item Media, link and documenti from the new screen displayed, then the tab Media do tap sul audio files you are interested in, so you can preview it. If it is the correct file, click on share button (the one with the square and the arrow) located at the bottom left, select the item Share from the menu that opens and choose the option Save your File, then indicates the position on your iPhone or iCloud Drive to save the audio.
As an alternative to how I have already explained to you or if you want to use voice messages as a ringtone, you must export the chat containing the elements of your interest and, subsequently, you must extrapolate the multimedia contents of your interest using the app Fillet (the default iOS file manager).
To do this, identify the conversazione of your interest in the screen Chat of WhatsApp, swipe it from right to left and press the button Other that appears. From the menu that is shown to you, then select the items Export chats e Attach media and waits for the procedure to be completed.
When the process is complete, press the button Save your File in the menu where you can choose the location to save the conversation, indicates the position where you want to store everything and press on the item Add, top right.
At this point, open the app Fillet on your iPhone, by tapping on the relative icon (Quella with the blue folder and the white background) present on the home screen, go to position in which you have chosen to save the WhatsApp conversation and extract the relative ZIP file, pressing on it, then select the item Content preview.
Now, scroll through the list of chat contents and when you find the audio files which you intend to use as a ringtone, tap the button Play, to listen to a preview. If it is the correct file, click on share button, bottom left, and choose the option Save your File, to save it in a certain location.
Use a WhatsApp audio as a ringtone
Now that you have saved the WhatsApp audio file that you intend to use as your ringtone on your iPhone, you can set it as your ringtone.
Since on the iPhone it is not possible to set any audio file as a ringtone directly, to succeed in your intent you must first resort to the use of GarageBand, an application developed by Apple for iOS that allows you to create and edit music and which also returns for the purpose in question.
To use the app, download it from the relevant section of the App Store and launch it, then tap on button for selecting loops (what looks like a eye) located at the top right, select the tab Fillet and go to the position on your iPhone where the audio files taken from WhatsApp, then press on it and, continuing to hold down, drag and drop the song on the timeline by GarageBand.
After completing the above steps, adjust the length of the song by moving the indicators on the track, so that it results of 30-40 seconds. Then, tap on the icon with the down arrow present at the top left, select the item My songs from the proposed menu, hold down for a few moments onpreview of the project created and, from the menu you see, select the item Share.
Finally, select the item Ringtone, type il name you want to assign to the ringtone, tap on the wording Export (top right) and, when the message appears that the procedure has been completed, tap the button OK. Now, to directly set the ring tone you just created, choose the option Use ringtone from the box Ringtone that appears on the display.
Alternatively, after completing the export of the ringtone, go to the iOS home screen, select the icon Settings (Quella a forma di ruota d'ingranaggio), then the items Sounds and haptic feedback> Ringtone and choose the ringer just created from the list that is proposed to you, in order to set it.
