Embellishing the text of a message on WhatsApp, writing in italics, is very simple and intuitive: just follow a few simple tricks.

Did you know that WhatsApp also allows you to write a word or text in crossed out (so, to be clear: Strikethrough)? To do this, once again just insert the word or phrase to be written between a particular symbol called Tilde ~. For example, try writing the following sentence: ~ Hello from the author ~

I imagine that at this point you will ask yourself: “what is the symbol Tilde on the keyboard of my Android smartphone? " Perfectly legitimate question and I have the answer right away for you. WhatsApp formatting does not end there. You can also choose to use options of cross formatting (combining bold and italics, for example). To do this, simply combine two or more symbols together. IOS smartphone

Are you using WhatsApp as a messaging application and have an iOS device, iPhone or iPad, for example? Don't worry, you can write in italics on WhatsApp very easily even using an iOS smartphone. To do this, just follow my guide carefully. In the following lines I will explain step by step how to write in italics, bold or strikethrough and how to use the font Monospaced, to customize the text message.

As usual, find the chat of the person to send the message to and start typing the text of the same. When you have finished typing and before sending the message, press and hold your finger on the text. To format it all, select the item Select all to highlight it; otherwise tap on Select to highlight only a single word to be formatted.

Once the text to be formatted is highlighted, you can apply italics by tapping the button BIU that you can see on the screen. A small menu will then appear and you can choose the formatting item italic. Alternatively, you can also format the text in bold or strikethrough by tapping on the respective items. On iOS there is no button to quickly format the text with the font Monospaced: to use it you will need to use the alternative method that I indicate in the following lines.

You can use the formatting tools of WhatsApp on iOS also with an alternative method that again involves the use of some commonly used symbols that will allow you to change the text of the message you want to send.

Let's start with the italic. To write a message in italics on WhatsApp with an iOS smartphone, just insert the word between the symbol Underscore _ . For example: _Hello from the author_

In addition to italics, you can also choose to write a sentence in Bold. In this case, to write a bold message on WhatsApp, via your iOS device, you will need to type the symbol before and after a word or phrase Asterisk *. For example, try writing the following sentence: * Hello from the author *

Even on iOS, WhatsApp also allows you to write a word using the crossed out (so, to be clear: Strikethrough). How you do it? It is very simple; just insert the word or phrase to be written between the symbol Tilde ~. For example: ~ Hello from the author ~

In the default keyboard of your iOS smartphone, find the symbol Tilde it's child's play. You can find the special character by tapping a combination of buttons located at the bottom left of the keyboard. With an iOS smartphone you can find this special character on the default keyboard. Tap the symbol 123 and then hold the symbol '. A small box of additional characters will appear. The symbol Superscript ` is the first located in this box.

WhatsApp formatting using these special symbols also allows you to use the cross formatting. You can then write and send a message combining bold and italics, for example. To do this, simply combine two or more symbols together. WhatsApp Web - Windows PC

If you spend a lot of time on your computer, you will find it convenient to use WhatsApp via WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp Web is an official WhatsApp service that allows you to send messages, photos and other multimedia content on WhatsApp, directly from your computer's browser. WhatsApp Web can be used from a browser, but is only compatible with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge.

All the formatting tools shown are also available by writing and sending a message on WhatsApp Web from Windows PC. But do you need some preliminary instructions to understand how to use WhatsApp Web? No problem, I'll explain it to you in no time.

First of all, connected to the web.whatsapp.com address, through the browser of your choice, among those I mentioned to you. Once you are connected, take your smartphone, open WhatsApp, press thethree dots icon (on Android) or go to entry Settings (on iOS) and tap the item Web WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Web - Mac

WhatsApp can also be used on Mac, as it is a tool via Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Opera browser. To use all the formatting options I've told you about so far on Mac too, you first need to open WhatsApp Web on the Mac.

So connect to the web.whatsapp.com address via the browser of your choice among those I have indicated to you. Done? Very well! You can't find the symbol Tilde on the Mac keyboard? You can type it using a combination of keyboard buttons. Hold down OTHER and type 5 from the numeric keypad. This way you can type the symbol in any WhatsApp conversation.

To customize the text of a WhatsApp message, using WhatsApp Web on your Mac, you can also choose to use the font Monospaced. To write and send a message with this particular font, just interpose the word or phrase to the symbol Superscript ` for three times. The superscript symbol is also not present on the Mac keyboard and you will need to use a combination of buttons to type it. Hold down OTHER and type 9 from the numeric keypad.

Even using WhatsApp Web on Mac you can write a message with all the formatting options I have told you about so far, thus giving rise to a message with cross formatting.
