Google Chrome
Chrome it does not need too many presentations: it is the Google browser, as well as the most used in the world both in the desktop and mobile environment. It is available for all major operating systems. Here's how you need to proceed if you use it too.
From computer
If you want to search for a word on a page and use Google Chrome, you have to start the web browser, go to the web page where you want to search for a specific word, term or name, click on the button with the three dots horizontally located at the top right and select the item Find from the context menu or, alternatively, press the key combination Ctrl + F sulla tastiera of the computer.
Once this is done, you will see a small search bar appear at the top right in which you will have to type the words or phrases to find on the page. To go back and forth between matches, you have to press the key Submit on the computer keyboard or click on darts located on the right side of the search field.
When the search is finished, you can make the bar disappear by simply clicking on the"X" icon that you find in correspondence with it.
From mobile
Purposes Google Chrome on smartphones and tablets and would you like to understand how to search for a word on a page? So to begin with, start the Chrome app on your device, go to the web page you intend to go to and then tap the button with the three dots placed at the top right, then presses on Find on page.
You will now see a search bar appear at the top of the displayed screen. Then type the word, term or name to search for and move between the various results using the directional arrows that you find on the left. Searched items on the web page will be highlighted in orange. You can close the bar at any time by pressing the"X" icon top right.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge it is the browser that has taken the place of Internet Explorer and, in its most recent versions, has been revisited in order to use the same Chrome engine and be compatible with all the most popular devices and operating systems. Here's how to proceed if you use it too.
From computer
using Windows 10, you usually surf the Net with Microsoft Edge and would you like to understand how to search for a word on a page using the Redmond home web browser? No problem, even in this case it is an extremely simple operation to carry out.
To search for a word on a page with Microsoft Edge, start the browser in question and go to the referring web page. Then click on the button with i three dots horizontally located at the top right and select the item Find on page from the menu that is shown to you. Alternatively, use the key combination Ctrl + F.
Once this is done, you will see a search field appear at the top through which you can search for all the desired words on the page. After typing the terms to find, Microsoft Edge will highlight all matches found within the document and indicate the number next to the search bar.
To quickly switch between matches, you can press the key Submit on the keyboard or you can use the directional arrows located to the right of the search field. At the end of the search, you can make the bar disappear by clicking on the"X" icon that you find to the right of the same.
From mobile
You are using Edge on your smartphone or tablet? In this case you can search for a word easily, by carefully following the simple instructions that I will give you shortly.
First, launch Edge on your mobile device and go to the web page you want to search for one or more terms. Once this is done, press onicon (...) that you find at the bottom center and, in the box that is shown to you, tap on the item Find on page.
At this point, in the area at the top you will be shown a search box: then type the terms to be identified on the page. You can move from one location to another using the directional arrows up. When you are done, close the search mode using the search mode "X" icon up.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox is a popular free and open source browser available for all major operating systems for computers, smartphones and tablets. If you use it too, here are the directions you need to follow.
From computer
If you use the browser instead Mozilla Firefox, you can search within the web pages by starting the browser and connecting to the page on which you intend to go to act, by clicking on the button with the three lines horizontally located at the top right and selecting the item Find on page from the menu that is shown to you. Alternatively, you can press the key combination Ctrl + F on the computer keyboard
Once this is done, you will see a bar appear at the bottom of the window, through which you can perform your searches within the current page. Again, you can quickly switch between matches by pressing the key Submit on the keyboard or using the arrows located next to the search field, while with the button Highlight all matches found can be kept highlighted.
The button Upper / lower case instead, it allows you to search by taking into account the difference between upper and lower case. When the search is finished, you can make the bar disappear by simply clicking on the"X" icon that you find to the right of the same.
From mobile
Purposes Firefox on your smartphone or tablet and would you like to understand how to search for a word on a page? Then first of all start the Firefox app by tapping on its icon, connected to the Web page on which you intend to go and then press on theicon (...) located at the top right and tap the button Find on page.
Once this is done, you will be shown a search field in the area below. Type in the word, term or name to search for and use the directional arrows placed on the right to move between the various results. The elements attached to the Web page corresponding to what you typed will be counted using the appropriate indicator placed next to the directional arrows and will be highlighted in orange.
When the search is finished, you can make the bar disappear by simply clicking on the button "X" that you find in correspondence with it.
Internet Explorer
If you want to learn how to search for a word on a page in Internet Explorer (browser now obsolete and not recommended, but which can be useful for testing purposes), the first step you need to take is to start the browser and connect to the web page where you want to search for a certain word, term or name, click ongear icon located at the top right and first select the item Fillet and then that Find on page from the menu that opens. Alternatively, press the key combination Ctrl + F on the PC keyboard and you will get the same result.
Once this is done, you will see a search bar appear in the upper left part of the window, through which you can search for all the desired terms within the page. After typing the word (or words) to find, Internet Explorer will highlight all the matches found within the document indicating the number next to the search bar.
To switch between matches, you can press the key Submit on the computer keyboard or click on the button Following. To return to the previous correspondence, however, you can click on Previous. Also, by clicking on the button options you can choose to search only whole words or carry out searches taking into account the difference between upper and lower case letters entered in the search bar.
When the search is finished, you can make the bar disappear by simply clicking on the"X" icon that you find to the left of the same.
Safari
Now let's move on to the Apple area, and more precisely to Safari: The default browser on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
From computer
You have a Mac and do you use Safari to surf the net? Very well, even in this case you can search for a word on a page. How you do it? I'll explain it to you right away. First of all, start the Apple web browser and connect to the page where you intend to search for a word, term or name, then click on the item Modification attached to the menu bar, move the cursor to Search e clicca sull'opzione Search for… attached to the menu that is shown to you. Alternatively, press the key combination cmd + F on your Mac keyboard.
At this point, you will see a search bar appear in the upper right part of the Web page through which you can perform your searches and with the total number of results corresponding to what you typed next to it. Even in the case of Safari, you can quickly switch between matches by pressing the key Submit on the keyboard or using the directional arrows located next to the search field.
When the search is finished, you can make the bar disappear by simply clicking on the button end that you find in correspondence with it.
From mobile
If you have an iPhone or an iPad and you usually surf the net with Safari also from there, you can search for a word on a page by simply starting the Safari app, going to the web page of your interest, pressing the button for sharing placed at the bottom and tapping on the item Find on page attached to the menu that is shown to you (if you can't see it “on the first try”, swipe to the left).
Once this is done, you will see a search field appear at the bottom of the screen. Then type the word, term or name to search for and move between the various results using the directional arrows that you find on the left. Searched items attached to the web page will be highlighted in yellow.
When the search is complete, you can make the bar on the screen disappear by pressing the button end that you find to the right of the same.
Other programs
Do you want to find a word in a given text document opened with the word processor you usually use? Do you want to search for a word on a page within a PDF file? You can do this too! Regardless of the program in use, you can do your job simply by using the aforementioned keyboard shortcuts. So, if you know how to use Windows, just use the key combination Ctrl + F while if you are using macOS you can use the key combination cmd + F.
Once this is done, you will see a search bar appear at the top or bottom of the window of the program in use or of the open document through which you can find the terms of interest simply by typing them inside it. The terms typed actually present will be highlighted just as it happens by going to search for a word on a page through the web browser.
