Convert PDF to JPG on Mac
Now let's move on to some applications, both free and paid, that allow you to convert PDF to JPG on Mac.
PDF Toolkit +
Do you use a Mac? Then know you can convert PDF to JPG easily with PDF Toolkit +. It is a small app that I like to define as a "Swiss Army Knife" for PDFs: it allows you to merge, split, compress, convert and extract texts and images from them. You can download it from the Mac App Store for € 1,99.
How does it work? Nothing easier. After starting PDF Toolkit +, click on the tab Text / Images, drag the PDF to convert to JPEG into the program window and set the item JPEG in the drop-down menu at the bottom right.
Then choose the resolution that the output images should have from the drop-down menu Record as pictures (I advise you to keep the setting High resolution 300 dpi), click the button Converted, choose the folder in which to export the images and that's it.
If you want, by pressing the button Extract! found under the heading Extract images you can directly extract the images contained in the PDF without converting the other contents (ie texts, tables and so on).
Automator
I assure you that PDF Toolkit + is worth all the (little) money it costs. However, if you really don't want to open your wallet, I would like to point out that thanks to Automator you can create a small “home made” application that can transform PDF files into JPG images.
The procedure to follow is quite simple. Launch Automator (you can find it in the Other Launchpad), choose to start creating a new one Application and select the item library from the side bar of the sinistra.
At this point, add the following elements to the app by double clicking on each of them: Ask for Finder items (to allow the application to process the PDF files selected by the user), Turn PDF pages into images (to convert) e Move Finder Items (to specify the folder in which to save the output images, by default the desktop).
At this point, go to the menu File> Save of Automator, select the folder in which to save the app and that's it. At this point, to convert PDF to JPG with the application created by Automator, start the latter, select the document to convert and all its pages will appear as a JPG file on the desktop.
