Fri: ac (Windows / Mac / Linux)
The first resource I want to tell you about is Fre: ac. Without a doubt, this is one of the best audio converters currently available on the market. Its main advantages? It is free, open source, compatible with all popular operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux) and supports a wide range of audio files: MP3, OGG, FLAC, AAC, WMA and more.
To download it on your PC, connected to its official website, select the item Downloads from the left sidebar and click on the link freac-xxexe placed next to the wording Self extracting installer (if you are using a Windows PC) or on the link freac-xx-macosx.dmg (if you are using a Mac).
When the download is complete, if you are using a Windows PC, open the installation package freac – xx.exe just got it and click on Yes, its NEXT, again on Yesanchor your NEXT four times and up end to complete the setup. Then start the program by double clicking on its shortcut that has been added to the desktop.
If you are using a Mac, open the .dmg package that contains the software and drag the Fre: ac icon into the folder Applications of macOS. Then right click on it and choose apri for two consecutive times, in order to start the application, however, going around the limitations of Apple imposed against unauthorized developers.
Now that you see the Fre: ac window on your screen, you just have to select the format you want to convert the audio files to. Then click on arrow located next to the button Play at the top right and choose one of the options available in the menu that opens.
Subsequently, if you want to adjust the bit-rate or other parameters related to the files to be obtained, click on thegear located at the top right and set your preferences. If you don't know where to put your hands - I recommend - don't change any settings.
Finally, click on the icon White sheet which is located at the top left to select the songs to convert, presses on Play and wait for the process to finish.
If you want to choose the folder in which to save the songs, press the button Sfoglia ... which is located at the bottom right before starting the conversion procedure.
Switch Audio File Converter (Windows / Mac)
As an alternative to the above resource, you can rely on Switch Audio File Converter to convert audio files on your computer. It is a program available for both Windows and Mac, free (but possibly usable in a paid version, with some extra features), very easy to use and able to perform in an impeccable way the purpose for which it is intended. It supports all popular formats, allows you to adjust advanced conversion settings and has a pretty nice interface. In short, try it now and you will see that it will satisfy you.
To download it to your computer, connect to the program's website and click on the link Download Switch Audio File Converter for Windows. If what you're using is a Mac instead, click Download Switch Audio File Converter for Mac OS X..
Once the download is complete, if you are using Windows, open the file switchsetup.exe just got it and click on Si. Choose to download the cittàn translation by clicking on Download and install english (v x.xx) and click on NEXT.

Then select the output format from the drop-down menu Format: which takes place at the bottom left and adjusts (if you want) the settings relating to bit-rate, metadata and volume by clicking on the button Opzioni ... adjacent.
To conclude, click on the button Converted and wait for the transformation procedure to be started and completed.
By default, the converted songs will be saved in the folder Music Of computer. However, if you want, you can set a custom position by clicking on the button Shop by Department next to the menu Save to:, at the bottom of the software window, before starting the conversion.
MediaHuman Free Audio Converter (Windows / Mac)
Another great program you can appeal to to convert audio files is MediaHuman Free Audio Converter. It is a free software for Windows and Mac that allows you to convert all major formats together: WMA, MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AIFF and Apple Lossless. It is very intuitive and also allows you to change the quality of the final file.
To download it immediately to your computer, connect to the program's website and click on the button depicting the operating system logo che stai using.
When the download is complete, if you are using Windows open the file MHAudioConverter.exe and click on Run and Yes. Then select the item I accept the terms of the license agreementpiggy back his NEXT four times in a row and complete the setup by first pressing on Install and subsequently on end.
If you are using a Mac instead, open the .dmg package you just got and drag the converter icon into the folder Applications of macOS. Afterward, right click on it and select apri twice in a row, in order to start the program, however, going around the limitations imposed by Apple on non-“blessed” developers.
Once the MediaHuman Free Audio Converter window is displayed on the screen, drag over them the audio files you want to convert or select them "manually" by clicking on the button [+] which is high up.
Then expand the drop-down menu Size placed on the toolbar, select the output format you prefer, set (if you want) also the bit-rate and press on Close.
Finally, click the button with the two arrows which is located on the toolbar and MediaHuman Free Audio Converter will go into action by converting all files.
When the process is complete, you will find the converted songs in the folder Music Of computer. If you want to change the destination of the output files, click on the icon with the before starting the conversion wrench, select the scheda output and specify a path in the field below the entry Output folder.
iTunes (Mac / Windows)
Do you need to rip a music CD to your computer? Then I advise you to rely on iTunes, Apple's music software available for Mac and Windows, useful not only for managing audio files but also for managing iOS devices that are connected to the computer. On macOS it is already pre-installed, while on Microsoft operating systems it must be downloaded separately (as I explained to you in my tutorial dedicated to the subject).
To use it for your purpose, all you have to do is answer in the affirmative in the window that you see automatically appear on the screen after inserting the CD into your computer drive and through which you are asked whether you intend to import the disc or not . Alternatively (or in any case if the warning does not appear), you must select the icon of CD from the menu at the top left and click on the button Import CD which is located at the top right.
Conversion can take place in various formats, such as AAC and MP3. To choose the one you prefer, go to the section iTunes> Preferences ... via the menu bar, select the tab General in the window that appears and presses the button Import settings ....

Windows Media Player (Windows)
If you use a Windows PC, as regards copying music CDs to your computer, as an alternative to iTunes you can use Windows Media Player, the multimedia player included “standard” in all major editions of the Microsoft operating system (if you can't find it among the available programs, read my article dedicated to the subject to find out how to fix it).
To use it for your purpose, insert the reference disc into your computer's CD / DVD drive, then start Windows Media Player via the Start menu, select the icon diskette from the left sidebar and click the button CD Copy Settings which is located at the top.
Finally, select the file format you want to convert the audio CD tracks (MP3 o WMA). Then you have to press the button Copy from CD.
Media.io (Online)
As anticipated at the beginning, it is also possible to convert audio files online. Do not you believe it? Then try Media me. It is a Web service compatible with all popular browsers (as well as with all operating systems) which allows you to convert the main audio file formats: MP3, AAC, WMA and many more. It is totally free, does not require registration and does not require special plugins to work. In short, what more do you want?
If you want to try it, visit its main page, press the button Add your files and select the audio files to convert. Then indicate the desired output format from the drop-down menu Convert to: and, finally, presses the button Converted.
Accept now the terms of use of the service by clicking on the button I agree and after a few seconds of waiting the button will automatically appear Download All. Click on it and you can immediately download all the converted songs to your computer (they will be saved in the Download, if you have not changed the default browser settings).
If then instead of saving the files on the PC you prefer to save them on dropbox (if you have an account), click the button with the arrow next to the one to proceed with the download, select the appropriate option from the menu that appears, log in to the service and specify the location on the same in which to save the songs.
