How to Convert FLAC to MP3 Mac

    MediaHuman Audio Converter

MediaHuman Audio Converter is one of the best free audio converters available on OS X. It is able to convert files in FLAC, MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, OGG, AIFF and Apple Lossless formats, allowing precise control over the quality of the output songs. . To download it to your computer, all you have to do is connect to its official website and click on the item Download.

When the download is complete, open the dmg package you just downloaded, drag the MediaHuman Audio Converter icon to the folder Applications of OS X and start the program by double clicking on its icon. Should a security warning appear concerning the fact that the software was taken from an unknown source (i.e. outside the Mac App Store), start it by right clicking on its icon and selecting the item apri from the menu that appears. This operation will only be required at the first start.

At this point, drag the FLAC files to convert to MP3 in the MediaHuman Audio Converter window and expand the drop down menu located at the top right. A new window will open with two other drop-down menus inside: in the first you must select the format in which you want to convert the songs loaded in the program (then  MP3), in the second you must specify the quality that the output songs must have. To have a good balance between audio quality and file weight, I recommend that you choose a value between stereo, 44100Hz, 192kbps e stereo, 44100Hz, 320kbps.

Once you have adjusted all the settings, click on Close  to return to the main program screen and start converting your FLAC files to MP3 by clicking on the button with the two arrows located at the top right. By default, the files will be saved in the folder Converted by MediaHuman contained in the path Music on your Mac. If you want to change your destination, go to the menu MediaHuman Audio Converter> Preferences and select the folder you prefer from the drop-down menu Output folder.

    Fre: ac

The second software that I recommend you take into consideration is Fre: ac, an open source audio converter able to "digest" files in FLAC, MP3, M4A, WMA, OGG, WAV and Bonk formats. To download it to your computer, connected to its official website and click on the link located under the heading Mac OS X (Eg freac-20150705-macosx.dmg).

When the download is complete, open the dmg package you just downloaded, drag the Fre: ac icon to the folder Applications of OS X and start the program by double clicking on its icon. Also in this case, if a warning appears regarding the fact that the software has been downloaded from unknown sources, solve the problem by right clicking on its icon and selecting the item apri give the menu to compare.

At this point, to convert FLAC to MP3 with Fre.ac, drag the latter into the program window and select the item Lick MP3 Encoder give menu to tendin Selected encoder located at the bottom right. Then click on thegear present in the application toolbar (top) and adjust the quality of the output songs by selecting one of the options available in the drop-down menu Uses. If you want to manually adjust all the parameters you have to choose the option Custom settings.

Once you have adjusted all the MP3 encoding settings, press the button Shop by Department located at the bottom right to select the folder in which to export the converted songs and start their conversion by clicking on the button play up.

    X Lossless Decoder

If the two applications mentioned above do not fully satisfy you (but I doubt that this happens), you can convert FLAC to MP3 Mac with X Lossless Decoder.

X Lossless Decoder is an application that allows you to decode and convert all major audio file formats, including FLAC, MP3, OGG, APE, AIFF, WAV and MP3. To download it to your computer, connect to its official website and click on the link [Local Mirror] found under the heading Download (in the center of the page).

When the download is complete - by now you know what to do -, open the dmg package you just downloaded, drag the program icon to the folder Applications of OS X and start it. If a security warning appears and the software does not start, right click on its icon and select the item apri give the menu to compare.

Now, go to the menu XLD> Preferences which is located at the top left and, in the window that opens, set the item MP3 BLADES in the drop-down menu Target format. If you also want to adjust the quality of the output songs, click the button options. If instead you want to change the destination folder of the converted files (which is normally the same as the source files), put the check mark next to the item Specific folder and presses the button Tax.

When you have finished configuring everything, close the XLD settings panel, drag the FLAC files to be transformed into MP3 on the program icon on the Dock bar and wait for the conversion to complete.
