Disable WhatsApp notifications
If your main problem is notifications, you can make WhatsApp less "annoying" by turning off alerts about received messages. There are two ways to block notifications in WhatsApp: a generic one that inhibits the alerts (or sounds) related to all messages and a more selective one, which instead allows you to choose individual users or groups to "silence". Let's analyze them in detail.
To disable all WhatsApp notifications on Android, go to the menu Settings of your smartphone (the gear icon located on the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device), select the icon Audio and notifications i went his App notifications. If you do not find these items, you are probably using a customized version of Android (eg EMUI by Huawei), so you have to be good at finding the voice related to the customization of notifications: on Huawei devices, for example, it can hide behind the menusNotification Panel & Status Bar> Notification Manager. At this point, select the icon WhatsApp from the menu that opens and moves up ON the relative levetta all'opzione Block or, alternatively, move up OFF the function lever Consenti notified.
If you do not want to disable the notifications but only their sounds or their vibrations, open WhatsApp, press the ⋮ button located at the top right and select the item Settings from the menu that appears. Then, “tap” on the icon Notifications, select the voice Notification tone relating to message notifications and choose first Media Storage (o Select ringtones) and then None from the screen that opens. Repeat for the group notifications and call notifications And that's it. To disable vibrations too, from the same menu, select the item Vibration and set the value Off in the box that opens.
Do you want to "silence" a single group or a single contact? Nothing easier. Open WhatsApp, go to the tab Chat app and select the person or group you want to turn off notifications for. Then presses on the name of the person or on the title of the group placed at the top of the screen, move up ON the levetta Silence notifications and choose whether to "silence" notifications for 8 hours, 1 weeks o Everlasting removing the check mark from the item Show notification.
To disable all WhatsApp notifications on iPhone, start the application, go to the tab Settings located at the bottom right and select the icon Notifications from the menu that opens. Move up OFF the notifications levers for Message, groups e calls And that's it. If you don't want to turn off notifications completely but only their sounds, go to the menu Settings> Notifications of WhatsApp, select the item Sounds for messages, groups and calls and select the option Nobody from the screen that opens. Alternatively, to completely disable WhatsApp notifications on iPhone, go to the menu Settings> Notifications for iOS, select the icon WhatsApp and move up OFF the relative levetta all'opzione Consenti notified.
To disable notifications for a single contact or group you must follow the same procedure as previously seen for Android: start WhatsApp, go to the tab Chat application and select the person or group to "mute". At this point, press on title bar located at the top of the screen, select the item silent from the menu that opens and choose whether to disable notifications for the contact / group selected for 8 hours, 1 weeks o Everlasting.
Of course, if you change your mind, you can activate notifications again for the "muted" person or group by returning to the previously used menu and deactivating the function silent.
Disable read receipt and last access to WhatsApp
Do you want to protect your privacy on WhatsApp by removing the confirmation of reading messages (the double blue check) or the date of yours Last Access (the one that appears in the title bar of the application)? No problem, it can be done, but one important thing must be specified: both of these settings provide for reciprocity between WhatsApp users. In other words, if you deactivate the last access or the blue ticks, not even you will be able to see the read receipts or the date of the last access to WhatsApp of your friends. All clear? Well, then let's take action.
- To deactivate the confirmation of reading messages - open WhatsApp, go to the menu of settings and select the icon Account. Next, go on Privacy, uncheck the option Read confirmations And that's it. The setting has no effect on groups, where read receipts will remain active.
- To deactivate the last access date - open WhatsApp, go to the menu of settings and select the icon Account. Then go up Privacy, "tap" on the option Last access and choose not to show the information to Nobody.
For more information on both of these procedures, I invite you to read my tutorials on how to be invisible on WhatsApp and how to remove last WhatsApp access.

In the unfortunate event that your mobile phone has been stolen, you can deactivate your account on the stolen device by simply activating a new copy of the app with the same phone number.
If you can't activate a new copy of WhatsApp with the stolen mobile phone number, send an email to the address firstname.lastname@example.org inserting in the subject Lost / Stolen: Deactivation of my account and ask for the forced deactivation of the account. In the message you must enter your telephone number complete with international prefix.
If you don't reactivate your account within 30 days of deactivation, it will be completely deleted. More information about it is available on the official WhatsApp website.
Please note: all the procedures relating to Android illustrated in this tutorial also apply to WhatsApp Business, the professional version of WhatsApp, which I have told you about in depth in this guide.
