How to find printer MAC address

If you need to retrieve the MAC address of your printer, then this is the section of the tutorial that suits you best. Let me start by telling you that I am not aware of the brand and model of the printer in your possession, therefore I am not able to indicate the precise procedure that best suits your case.

Basically, all you have to do is get yourself into the section settings o configuration through the display of the printer itself, enter the network settings and select the option to view the connection information: with a bit of luck, you should be able to retrieve the physical address.

If the latter option is not present, still from the device settings, you can, instead, access the section information and request the printing of the configuration report of the device, in which the relative MAC address should also be specified.

If this is not successful, you can retrieve the MAC address of your printer through the Windows or macOS settings.

    • Windows - log in to Control Panel calling it up from the menu Home, presses on the voice Devices and printers, right click on the printer you want to get the physical address of and select the item Property from the proposed menu. At this point, move to the tab Web Services: the address you are looking for is indicated right there.
    • MacOS - access the System preference by clicking on the gear icon located in the Dock bar, click on the item Printers and scanners and choose the printer of your interest from the left side of the new window displayed. At this point, press on the buttons Options and supplies Show printer web page ... and, through the browser page that opens, go to the section Network (o Network, depending on your printer model): the physical address of the printer should be specified right there.

If none of the above methods are successful, you can retrieve the MAC address of the printer directly from the router, following the instructions that I am going to explain later in this guide.

How to find MAC address modem

Although it may seem complex, finding the MAC address of the modem is one of the simplest operations ever: in most cases, this address is clearly indicated on the adhesive label present on the back of the device or in its lower part, accompanied by the words MAC address, Physical address o device address.

Alternatively, you can view the same information from the summary page of the modem management panel: first, access it by typing theIP address of the modem (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) in the browser address bar and specifying, when necessary, username and password (usually admin / admin admin / password, if you have not changed the default access combination). If you have any difficulties at this stage, consult without hesitation my tutorial on how to enter the router, which I made especially for you.

If you are lucky, you should find the physical address of the device on the first page that appears. Otherwise, you can retrieve it from one of the summary sections of the management window which, depending on the modem you are using, may respond to the name of Information, Device, Summary, Status, Overview or again, Hardware details. For further information, I invite you to consult the user manual of the router in your possession.

How to find MAC address on other devices

As I have already explained to you in the opening words of this guide, any network card (be it with cable, Wi-Fi or even Bluetooth) has a unique MAC address with which it can be "physically" identified: consequently, all devices that can be connected to the Internet (televisions, Smart plugs, Smart appliances and so on) have a MAC address.

However, it is not always possible to find them by accessing the relevant settings, since some of them (such as smart sockets, USB Wi-Fi keys or other types of connected elements) do not have a display at all: in this case, the MAC address can be retrieved both from the label usually pasted on the back of the device itself, and from the label on the sales package or in the instruction manual. This information, in most cases, is identified by the wording MAC address, Wi-Fi MAC, Network Physical address or simply, Physical address.

If you are not able to retrieve the network address of the device in your possession, you can solve the problem in the following way: first, connect the device to your Wi-Fi network, then enter the management panel of the router through any browser (if you do not know how to do it, follow the instructions I indicated in my tutorial dedicated to the topic) and, once this is done, go to the section Connected devices, Wi-Fi > Dispositivi, Connected Devices or similar.

At this point, identify the name of the connected device whose MAC address you intend to take (if you are interested in that of a USB Wi-Fi key, for example, you must search for the name of the computer to which it is connected) and click on the freccetta verse il basso (or on the keys Info, Information or details) to view its details: in this way, you should be able to retrieve the information that interests you.
