Search for posts on Facebook using hashtags

The easiest way to find posts on Facebook, which also works on the cittàn version of the social network, is to use hashtag. As I also explained to you in my tutorial on how to use hashtags on Facebook, hashtags are nothing more than "labels" used to classify posts, photos and other content published on the social network concerning a certain topic. For example, if you want to publish a post in which you talk about a film and insert the hashtag in it #titolofilm, you will allow others to easily find your message (as long as it has been posted at the “public” privacy level) and to understand that you are talking about that movie. I hope everything is clear.

At this point, let's see how to use hashtags for search for posts on Facebook. The procedure is valid for all devices (PC, smartphone and tablet) and does not require the change of language on the social network.

To search for a public post on Facebook using hashtags (e.g. the title of a movie, the name of a famous person, the name of an event, and so on), all you have to do is select the search bar placed at the top and type the hashtag of your interest preceded by the symbol #. For example, if you want to search for all public posts where "configurehow" is mentioned and where a specific hashtag is used, you have to search #configurehow (hashtags do not include spaces between words) and enter to view the search results.

The search results will be divided into Posts from friends and groups e Public posts, then you can quickly identify the posts published by your contacts and those of people you do not know (or in any case are not part of your friends on the social network).

If you work from a smartphone, you can further customize the search results by pressing on the item filters located at the top right and adjusting the settings on the screen that opens. You can choose whether to limit the search to posts from friends or to those of all Facebook users, whether to limit the search to posts published from a certain geographical area and more.

Were you unable to find the post of your interest using hashtag-based search? Then you just have to temporarily switch to the American version of Facebook and take advantage of the search engine present in the latter, thanks to which it is possible to search for the content of public posts regardless of the presence of hashtags within them.

But know that at the time of writing the advanced search engine does not seem to work from the Facebook app, I recommend that you use your PC or connect to Facebook from a browser (you may need to activate the desktop view mode).

Once Facebook has been "translated" into English, you can search for the content of your interest by simply typing it in search bar located at the top and selecting the option See all results for (search term) found at the bottom of the menu that appears. The search can also contain several terms separated by spaces (eg "Name Surname").

At this point, scroll down the page with the search results and you will find various sections: Top Public Posts with the best public posts that contain the terms you searched for, Posts from Friends and Groups with posts from friends and groups you belong to and so on.

Using the options in the left sidebar you can also filter the search results based on who published the posts (POSTED BY), their publication date (DATE POSTED) and the places from which they were published (TAGGED LOCATION).

At the end of the search, to return to the cittàn version of Facebook, click on arrow located at the top right of the blue bar and select the item Settings from the menu that appears. Then select the icon Language from the left sidebar, click on the link Edit placed in front of the item What language do you want to use Facebook in?, select the option cityno from the drop-down menu for choosing the language and click on the button Save changes per salvare i Cambiomenti.
