Preliminary information

Before getting to the heart of the guide, going to explain how to send a blank message on WhatsApp, there is some preliminary information that it is my duty to provide you, to allow you to have perfectly clear ideas about it.

First, let's clarify that WhatsApp it does not offer any special functions to perform the operation that is the subject of this tutorial and that without typing anything in the box dedicated to text entry in the chat screen it is not possible to proceed with sending messages.

The above does not mean, however, that it is not possible to send blank messages on WhatsApp. To do this, both from a smartphone and from a computer, you only need to put into practice a special "trick" that involves the use of invisible characters, or characters that are not seen and therefore appear as empty spaces but which can still be sent via WhatsApp as they are recognized as writing characters.

Invisible characters are present both in the system Unicode than in language ASCII, dating back to 1987 and 1961 respectively. To date, the Unicode system provides 21 bits and supports a repertoire of numeric codes with which it can represent about one million characters, while the ASCII system (or rather extended ASCII) is 8 bit and allows to represent 256 characters.

Having clarified this, the simplest way to send a message without content on WhatsApp is certainly to do copy and incolla of an invisible character, but there are also some dedicated apps designed precisely for the purpose in question and which may be more practical for some.

In all cases, however, I invite you to do not abuse of the case in question and preferably a reveal the "misdeed" to the recipient of the message as soon as possible. Sending empty messages on WhatsApp can, for example, be fun to prank a contact or to try to get his attention, but it is absolutely not fair to disturb others in this way or make them believe that they have a malfunction on their smartphone.
